Can you legally marry us? No, In England and Wales, you'll still need a quick pit stop at the register office (fifteen minutes, some paperwork, zero confetti) to make it official on paper. What I do is the bit you'll actually remember. Your names, your story, your questionable 'in jokes', said properly in front of everyone you love. Think of the register office as the receipt, and the ceremony as the actual gift.
(Marriage law in England and Wales is currently under review, with a government consultation open through September 2026. If it leads to reform, celebrants may one day be able to do the whole job — legal and heartfelt — in one ceremony. Watch this space.)
Can you keep it short? Absolutely. Some couples want twenty minutes, some want the full 'sit down' saga with three readings and a surprise musical number. Both are correct. I'll help you find the length that suits you, not the other way round.
Will you make my nan cry? Statistically, yes. I take no responsibility for mascara.
Do you travel outside Cheshire? Happily. I'm based in Cheshire and cover the North West as standard, with travel further afield for the right ceremony. (mileage fees apply after a 20 mile radius).
How far in advance should we book? As soon as you have a date. I only take one ceremony per day, Saturdays obviously are the most popular and go early. However, if you're eloping next month, ask anyway. It happens more often than you'd think.
Can we add rituals?
Handfasting, sand ceremonies, candles, broom jumping, traditions from your own culture or family, blended, adapted, or created from scratch, or a ritual you've invented that only makes sense to the two of you. All fair game.
